Making International Students “Happy”

Students are without a doubt busy. You’re here to earn your degree, but you can always fit in some fun.
That’s the message a group of students created by doing their own version of “Happy”. Not only did the video welcome new international students to the campus of Oklahoma State University, but it showed the students it’s important to have fun.
Carrie Circosta, Editor in Chief spoke with Kumail AlSaihati from Saudi Arabia, Swapneel Deshpande from India, and Solmaz Bastani from Iran about making the video, the response it has received so far, and their advice for new international students in the United States. We had some good laughs!

Experiencing a Water Crisis in Ohio

During the first weekend in August 2014 a water crisis went into effect that left more than 500,000 people without water in the greater Toledo area. People were not allowed to use water for two and a half days and water sold out within minutes at all the local stores. It was a large, toxic algae bloom in Lake Erie, where the city pulls its water. The toxin in the algae, called microcystin, can damage the liver and cause diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, and even nerve damage.
Sarah Naji Alyasiri, ISV Correspondent spoke with international students about how they were affected by this water crisis.
