International students at the University of Houston are being targeted by robbers.

At least three international students were targeted in the past two weeks according to the police. The robberies happened between midnight and 4 a.m. a few blocks away from campus where students live. When international students step outside to call families back home, that was when they got robbed. They stepped outside because they didn’t want to wake their roommates. And they called so late because it means it was daytime back in their home countries.

One international student studying computer science said his one friend got robbed at gunpoint. The robber took her keys, wallet, and car.

Police said more students have been robbed, but are afraid to come forward because police operate different in their home countries.

Police have sent out emergency messages to students to be aware of the robberies.
